About the Artist:
About the Artist Phil Livingston is a native of California. He received his Bachelors degree in art from California State University- Fullerton and a teaching credential from San Diego State University. It was while in college that he was introduced to the watercolor landscape artists known as the California group. Artist such as Millard Sheets, Milford Zornes, Rex Brandt, George Post, and others in that group had a strong influence on his developing style. An equally important influence on his work has been the climate and diverse landscape of California itself. The warm sun, sparkling ocean and golden hills have been the inspiration for many of his paintings.

Currently a resident of Northern California's Mendocino coast, he paints on location in the sun, wind, fog, and even drizzle. Livingston strives always to capture the mood or spirit of the landscape. He is far more interested in light, color, shape, texture, and design than in weight and volume. He keeps his paintings vibrant and alive by allowing the white of his paper to sparkle though the transparent color.

Phil Lvingston is represented locally by the Highlight Gallery, on Main street, in Mendocino. He is a member of the California Watercolor Association. His paintings are in both private and corporate collections.
